Workshops for March

Can't believe that we are half way through February. The classes are going well, with most of them still running. Sorry, still no news about the next step for Busy Bees, as we are still waiting for the fire report from the fire service. Will let you know when we hear.

Here is a list of classes for March. If there are any spaces on the class and you would like to come along, email: info@busybeespatchwork.com

Remember to send us your name address and telephone number. We can then put your name on the list for the class and send you requirements. All the workshops will be at Duffryn Community Centre, Newport, between 10am to 4pm.

March 2014
Saturday, 1st March:
Fantastic Finishes. A one day class with Avril Hann. Class fee: £40.00

We do need more people on this class for it to run. In the class you will learn all about finishing your quilt. Avril has taught Fantastic Finishes for the last three years. The reports we have had back from the people who attended proves that ‘Fantastic Finishes’ is a real winner. A lot of the people who attended last year were so impressed they booked on to Avril’s other classes at Busy Bees. Can’t say better than that.

It seems a shame to put all the work into making and quilting your quilt and then to not finish the edges off well. All these concerns can be a thing of the past, as Avril will take you through the many ways to finish the edges of a quilt. Bindings, facings, decorative edges such as prairie points are all included plus lots of ideas. Together you will take a look at the many possibilities – straight, curved, hexagonal or just different edge finishings together with how to cope with the corners for each of these and much more… in fact, as much as Avril can pack into the day for you. Unfinished quilt tops welcomed – let’s get it finished!

Saturday, 8th March:

Playing with Paint .A one day class with Deborah O’Hare. Class fee: £40.00

There are a few places left on this class. This workshop is for all those people who would like to learn how to use paint in their textile work. Have a look at Deborah’s blog to see her wonderful work.

Saturday, 15th March:
Flowers & Stars. A one day class with Trease Lane. Class fee: £40.00.

Unfortunately, Trease’s beautiful quilt was one of the casualties of the fire. ,Trease is still running her class which is full, with a good sized waiting list. If we get enough interest we can always ask Trease to run the class again, on another date. Let us know if you would like to come.

Saturday, 15th March:
Exploring Free Machining. A one day class with Sandra Rose. Class fee £40.00.
Another class that is full with a waiting list. Again,we can always ask Sandra to run the class again, on another date. Let us know if you would like to come.

Saturday, 22nd March:
Bird House. A one day class with Sue Warren.
Class fee: £40.00.

Sue has got a few places free. Again, unfortunately Sue’s wall hanging was lost in the fire and she is busy making another one. If you would like to join Sue for this class, more details on the classes and courses section of our website.

Saturday, 29th March:
Make a Book. A one day class with Chris Williams.
