We are hosting a charity event today in our workshop here at Busy Bees for a very worthwhile cause.

The ladies are making cloth bags for the "Beads of Courage" programme at the University of Wales Hospital (The Heath) for the Rainbow Ward - The children's oncology ward.

This is a new project that is being introduced in September this year. The concept is designed to support a child going through their cancer treatments and tells their story using colourful beads, with each bead having a meaningful symbol e.g. hair loss, chemo, radiotherapy, a stay in hospital or a transplant.

The beads are threaded onto a cord with some children having upwards of 2000 treatments during their treatment journey.  These beads become very heavy and the idea is to provide a bag for each child to keep their beads in.

The ladies have been very industrious and have made all these bags today.
